Hello,
I am a happily married stay at home mom who homeschools 5 kids ages 11 through 15 months old. I keep a website and blog so that others can learn about our life as a "natural" family. I am also a strong advocate for unassisted childbirth. I have caught three of my children in the comfort of my own home all on my own.
Thank you for stopping in to check out this website. I am getting a lot of traffic here. And, thank you for the nice comments I've seen various places. One thing I find strange about the Internet is how we can "idolize" normal people we have never even met. People become "famous" just from being on the Internet. I wanted to make a special point to say that I have bad and good days like everyone else. I am not the most perfect person or mother. I try hard and I take my job as being a parent very seriously.
On the other side of the spectrum I also find it strange that people can criticize or bash other people for their lifestyle and views. I hope that if you don't like my website that you will politely move on and find something you do like, find something that will inspire and empower you.
In the ever growing attachment parenting movement there is sometimes hostility or worry from other mamas not feeling natural enough or "AP" enough. This notion is silly! If you are doing the very best for your child, and using the very best research to make choices for your family then you are doing enough. Just because someone might not agree with you doesn't mean you should take it personally. Not every one agrees with me either!
Sometimes I'm busy being a "super mom" but sometimes I'm super stressed and wish the laundry would just end. Sometimes I tell my kids I'm sorry because I yelled or did something wrong. Sometimes I'm busy making a home cooked meal, and other times I'm asking the kids if they will settle for cereal cause "moms just tired tonight." Sometimes I'm on the Internet working on this website and thinking, "Hey I really should be spending time with my kids, I wonder what they are doing downstairs... " Sometimes I log off and go find those little guys and play a game or do some kitchen science. Sometimes, though, I don't.
I love life, I love my family, and I try to be a better person each and every day. I hope you enjoy this site and find yourself empowered in some way.
Love and joyful parenting,
Shauna
